New Network Graphics...With a Twist
New York NY: Lush, evocative images of natural elements form the basis of Loyalkaspar's comprehensive brand launch for LIME — Healthy Living with a Twist. LIME, a new multimedia lifestyle brand, seeks to present a fresh perspective on healthy living through content related to wellness, sustainability and personal growth. Loyalkaspar developed a look and feel for the brand message that is capable of translating across multiple platforms, from satellite radio, TV and the web, to mobile and on-demand. The branding materials also cultivate an organic, hand-drawn, emotional connection to the brand. For example, one of LIME's major themes — balance — is captured through live action of a loving couple interacting at home, with delicate animated elements swirling and floating upwards around them. David Herbruck and Beat Baudenbacher led the project out of Loyalkaspar's New York offices.
Come on into a Brighter World
San Francisco CA: EVB has invented a new, cult-like group of Orbit White gum lovers: the Friends of Bright. At friendsofbright.com, visitors can meet a happy group who believe that nothing beats a shiny, bright smile. The group's leader encourages viewers to explore the quirky desert landscape and ultimately become a "Friend." Visitors can watch films, join a sing-a-long and download ringtones. Creative credits go to Jason Zada, creative director; Jose Martinez and Liz Balin, art directors; and copywriter Alexandra Tyler.
Horsepower "Pops" for Animal Planet
New York NY: ZONA Design created programming and promotional package elements for Animal Planet's "Horse Power," a new program that follows America's top teenage competitive horse riders as they compete. Animal Planet sought a playful program opening to introduce each of the riders and their horses. Says Creative Director and Designer Zoa Martinez, the approach was to create a visual attitude that connotes "horsepower, not glittery pony." Since there is an element of luck in any competition, ZONA incorporated the horseshoe as a symbol of good fortune and pushed the idea with the addition of four leaf clovers. Flowers, stars, graphics reminiscent of stickers, blocks of colors and composited live-action footage give the presentation a "pop" sensibility for the target of teens and young women.
Annual Report Connects People and and Places
Arlington VA: A new perspective on conservation posits that the future of human beings is intertwined with the existence of all species. The Nature Conservancy emphasizes this concept in its 2005 annual report, "Nature for Life." Designed by Allemann Almquist & Jones, the annual highlights six conservation projects. The small, perfect-bound piece introduces each project via a map, an overview and a personal tale of inspiration. In keeping with the theme of social responsibility, notes principal Jan Almquist, the annual was printed on Mohawk Options 100% PCW White.
Airwalk Brand Escapes Urban Jungle
New York NY: Hectic New York City settings provide the backdrop for Airwalk's Fall 2006 magazine advertising campaign. Created by Collective Licensing International and the photographer Michael Muller, "Escape From New York" was shot on location in Times Square, the Hudson River and Brooklyn's Prospect Park, and features skateboarders hitching rides on cabs, surfers searching for waves and snowboarders reaching for the nearby mountains, all of them searching for an escape from the concrete jungle. Jeffrey Buice, creative director for Collective, which is based in Englewood CO, says ads seek to capture "the merging of youth culture and action sports with the intense heartbeat of a major metropolis."
Pop 'n' Roll
Essex CT: A pop-up magazine insert for A&E Network's "Rollergirls" has the show's main characters stand up off the page when the insert is opened. The piece by Structural Graphics, says Executive Vice President Ethan Goller, "effectively morphed a flat print concept into an 'in-your-face' insert." Lori Peterzell, A&E's VP of advertising and consumer marketing, describes the ads as "high impact print pieces that reflect the energy" of the show.
