48HourPrint.com
48HourPrint.com focuses on the critical need for businesses to receive their printed materials on time. As such, they offer 48-hour turnaround on all products and, under reasonable circumstances, actually make it a guarantee.
The shop's specialties include postcards, brochures, business cards, posters, pocket folders, sell sheets and catalogs. Jobs can be ordered online and proofed online, for fast and accurate turnaround. In addition to full color quality, the customer service is very strong.
In 2007, the company completely reengineered the ordering and check-out process, making it more intuitive and easier to use. A free sample kit is available online, as are online templates that help facilitate design.

hire established professionals to teach future professionals. In 1951, Stephens' son, Dr. Richard A. Stephens, stepped to the helm and expanded the academy from a few dozen students to 5,200. Dr. Elisa Stephens, granddaughter of the school's founder, took over in 1992.
She broadened the academy's curriculum in order to reflect new technologies and industry trends. The name of the school changed from Academy of Art College to Academy of Art University in recognition of its depth, scope and quality.

Agfa
Graphics Agfa has long been a world leader in prepress solutions for the printing and publishing industries and an important advocate for graphic designers and print buyers. It is especially appropriate, then, that Agfa Graphics is the exclusive sponsor of GDUSA's upcoming 45th Annual Survey on Print Design and Buying.
The company provides commercial, newspaper and packaging printers with an extensive range of workflow automation, project management, computer-to-film, computer-to plate and proofing solutions.
The world's largest plate supplier, Agfa Graphics produces analog plates as well as thermal, visible light and chemistry-free digital plates. More generally, the firm embraces the concept of "The Graphic Enterprise," in which premedia, printing, packaging and publishing companies automate production tasks and move toward a business model where manufacturing, accounting, administrative and customer service functions merge to form a highly efficient, interactive graphic enterprise.
A new initiative, the Agfa GreenWorks Environmental Award, acknowledges customers who promote environmental awareness both through inhouse programs and the effective use of green prepress and printing technologies.
The program is a reflection of the company's ongoing contribution to environmental efforts. More information on GreenWorks, including a list of GreenWorks printers, can be found at www.gdusa.com/agfa.

Apple
In GDUSA's 500th issue, readers named Apple the most important hardware product of the era. That should say it all. But for the sake of completeness, Apple ignited the personal computer revolution in the 1970s and reinvented the personal computer in the 80s with the Macintosh.
Today, the company continues to innovate with its new desktop and notebook computers, such as the new MacBook Air, as well as new operating systems. And, of course, Apple is spearheading the digital music revolution with the iPod and iTunes. Apple's first love has always been the design market, with the Mac putting content creators in the center of all media, though with all the consumer buzz about the iPhone and iPod, the company sometimes forgets from whence it came.
That said, last month saw the introduction of the new Mac Pro, with eight processor cores. Says Philip Schiller, senior vice president of worldwide product marketing, it "is the fastest Mac we have ever made."
