A Puzzling Bank Campaign
TDA Advertising & Design has crafted an ad campaign using "Where's Waldo"-type puzzles to promote free checking accounts at FirstBank in Lakewood CO. Viewers can win free checking by finding the hidden cheeseburger, submarine, dragon or sousaphone in the crowded, colorful ads. The ads broke last month in local and airline magazines, with outdoor ads planned on interstate billboards and as backlit airport dioramas, as well as online versions. Creative credits for Boulder's TDA go to Creative Directors Jonathan Schoenberg and Thomas Dooley, Art Director Will Geddes and Copywriter Brad Phifer.

Bringing Radio To The Streets
Poulin + Morris has designed the environmental graphics and wayfinding for the new broadcast studios of WNYC, the country's most-listened-to public radio station. The visual elements used for all project components are derived from words and visual metaphors of sound: waves, graphic equalizers, voice patterns, and related visual technology. The ground-floor performance space is identified with large bright-red letters and an undulating LED news ticker display which moves through the windows on Varick Street, making news available to passersby. "We are thrilled to be a part of this milestone in WNYC Radio's history. Says principal Douglas Morris: "Our work for the Jerome L. Green Performance Center needed to be immediate and memorable to the public-at-large since this is the first street-level broadcast and performance space located in lower Manhattan."
SVA Exhibition Celebrates "The Wilde Years"
School of Visual Arts (SVA) is presenting an exhibition entitled "The Wilde Years: Four Decades of Shaping Visual Culture," a celebration of designers, art directors and other creatives who graduated the BFA Advertising and Graphic Design Departments at SVA. Recognizing Department Chair Richard Wilde's 40th anniversary at the college, the show features iconic and culturally significant works by select alumni from all four decades of Wilde's tenure. "It's an honor to be recognized," says Wilde, adding that "I am inspired by these alumni ... many have become some of the most influential and creative people working in the business today." Among the 100 graduates recognized are Peter Favat, chief creative officer of Arnold Worldwide; Julia Hoffman, creative director of advertising and graphic design at Museum of Modern Art; and Scott Wadler, senior vice president design, creative services at MTV Networks. The exhibition runs through November 7 at the Visual Arts Gallery in NY.

Read Before You Vote Campaign
Read Before You Vote Campaign
Mark DiMassimo and Eric Yaverbaum, the marketing duo who have made a splash by attacking the bottled water fad via the "Tappening" campaign, are back in action with an initiative urging decisionmakers to read and understand every word of a bill before actually voting on it. It sounds obvious enough, and yet the team says ReadtoVote.org sprung forth in reaction to confusion and ignorance surrounding the health and energy bills being debated by Congress. DiMassimo and Yaverbaum, who have a combined 50 years of marketing experience, hope to convince every member of the House and Senate to sign a "ReadtoVote" pledge, vowing to never vote on any bill before personally reading and comprehending it. They've launched their new endeavor with a $750,000 marketing and advertising budget and are recruiting more than 1000 chalkers to write the pages of America's Affordable Health Choices Act of 2009 on the steps of the Capitol Building, one page at a time. Shortly after the campaign launched this fall, they had almost 5,000 pledges. DiMassimo runs New York-based advertising, design and digital agency DIGO. Yaverbaum is President of PR shop Ericho Communications, author of six books and a weekly guest on Fox's "The Strategy Room."
