Many See Job Change as Key to Opportunity
Each year the American Inhouse Design Awards Annual looks at issues of concern to inhouse designers. In the recent past, this has included the growing importance of corporate social responsibility in messaging; the tradeoffs of working in an inhouse department and obstacles to creativity that come with the territory; what makes an effective leader of an inhouse department; and how best to deal with change in good times and bad.
This year we turn to the challenge of growing and nurturing inhouse creative careers. This is always a prickly matter in an institutional environment where other priorities often dominate, and where the economic downturn continues to take its gut-wrenching toll.
The conclusions are based on a survey of the winners of the 2009 and 2010 American Inhouse Design Awards, crafted by The Creative Group and conducted online in May. Very brief excerpts are published here. Complete data from The Creative Group — along with advice and case studies on best practices — will be available to GDUSA readers in the early fall.
