SCHOOL OF ADVERTISING ART
Aspiring artist and designer Candy Niemeyer was born and raised in Findlay OH. Niemeyer is pursuing an Associate Degree of Applied Business in Advertising Art at School of Advertising Art in Dayton, and graduates in 2011. Having a strong background in fine arts, she says she has come to learn and understand the creative process of graphic design as well as all the elements that go into it. Niemeyer maintains a thirst for knowledge, driving herself to learn new techniques and push her work further. Appreciating the little things in life, she often finds herself writing things down just so she can cross them off, craving coffee and ice cream (separately), searching the latest design books for inspiration, and spending time with close friends and family.
What made you decide to go to design school?
I wanted a fun career expressing myself through art. At first I had no idea what graphic design was. I researched, visited SAA, and knew it was the right place for me.
Has it been a positive experience?
Of course! It wouldn’t have been the same without my instructors. I have learned more in my two years than I ever imagined. Being surrounded by creative people 24/7 is the greatest thing. I have come to love graphic design for the freedom to explore and take risks while also communicating with the viewer. A good concept has all the potential in the world.
