ACADEMY OF ART UNIVERSITY

Debbie Ladas is originally from Glasgow, Scotland, and is currently a San Francisco-based designer. She is pursuing a BFA degree. After receiving her MA in Business from St. Andrews University Scotland, she moved to the U.S. to work as a researcher in the investment banking industry. She fell in love with the Bay Area and a few years later decided to invest in her lifelong love of design by going back to school and switching careers. She completed her internship at Chen Design Associates and is gearing up to graduate.

What made you decide to go to design school?
I wanted to turn my passion for design into a career and develop the tools necessary to take me from an interested observer to a trained professional.

Has it been a positive experience?
Being a student at the Academy of Art University has been a wonderful opportunity to learn from the best, be challenged, and at the same time take risks, experiment and have fun. I love being a designer as the process is a unique combination of applying research, conceptual thinking and aesthetics to solving problems.
