SCHOOL OF VISUAL ARTS
Originally from South Korea, graphic design major Monica EunJi Kim transferred to the School of Visual Arts (SVA) from Seoul’s Kookmin University where she studied industrial design. During her junior year at SVA, she took a motion graphics class and was hooked on time-based design. In May 2010, Kim won the BOYZZZ Digital Video Scholarship from the Art Directors Club for her motion graphics portfolio. Currently a creative director at Arena Events & Circle Entertainment, she is working on a series of branding projects for the company.
What made you decide to go to design school?
In solving a design problem, I believe there are multiple right answers. In fact, sometimes the possibilities can seem endless, which is why I came to SVA to study graphic design.
Has it been a positive experience?
At school, I not only learn from my instructors, but also from my fellow students whose backgrounds are so different. The feedback we give each other really broadens our point of view. Studying at SVA also connects me to a design community that is strong and incredibly supportive.
