Students to Watch in 2012
MARYLAND INSTITUTE COLLEGE OF ART
The daughter of a preschool teacher and a digital networking engineer, Becky Slogeris falls somewhere in between, using her design to address education reform. Graduating in 2011 with a BFA in graphic design from MICA, Becky decided to stay another year as part of the College’s Master of Arts in Social Design’s inaugural class. Her design experience has ranged from interning with local non-profits to working with Pentagram.
What have you gained from attending design school?
The MA in Social Design at MICA has taught me that graphic designers belong at the table with politicians, public health professionals, and community organizers. Together we can break out of predictable solutions and begin to create large-scale social change.
