Students to Watch in 2012
Tommy Browne was born on July 4, 1990, to Claudia and Tom Browne, in New Jersey. Both parents are trained graphic designers, and from a young age he was encouraged to draw and communicate visually. This planted the seed of design in Tommy’s mind. He attended Carnegie Mellon University, following his mother, who had graduated from the CMU School of Design in 1982. Along with amazing classmates, Tommy has been inspired by his professors and their unwavering support of their students: namely, Dan Boyarski, Kristin Hughes, and Stacie Rohrbach. Tommy plans to pursue the fields of information design and custom lettering to help make complex information accessible to all. It is his philosophy that design be for the betterment of society and to increase understanding.
