The Creative Alliance (TCA) is a branding, public relations and design firm based in the Boulder CO. It’s an area where most businesses are environmentally oriented. TCA has helped its clients in Colorado and around the country creatively articulate and leverage their commitment to sustainability. For example, TCA helped Land Rover Flatirons develop and promote the Colorado Tree ProjectTM, a tree-planting program in collaboration with the National Arbor Day Foundation. The project included promotional pieces printed at small sizes on recycled paper certified by FSC. For PhoCusWright, a world leader in travel industry research, TCA converted their annual conference handbook from paper into a digital format, reduced the size of the conference materials, and printed them on recycled paper. For horticultural genetics company Syngenta, TCA helped them achieve FSC certification for their many catalogs.

The agency’s clients see TCA as a marketing partner, with the goal of increasing the bottom line and long-term company value. But they also look to TCA to help them merge their sustainability objectives with their marketing efforts, while letting their customers know they are committed to good environmental stewardship. As a result, TCA usually steers its clients clear of doing “environmental penance” by purchasing carbon credits. Instead, they help clients find creative ways to develop their own programs by investing in the environment in tangible ways, and then telling that story to their audiences.

CA helped rebrand client LaserCycle USA of Louisville CO in a way that clearly articulated its sustainability efforts. As one of the nation’s largest producers of recycled, remanufactured laser toner cartridges, LaserCycle USA has helped to keep four million pounds of plastic out of landfills, and eliminate the petrochemicals and greenhouse gases required to manufacture new cartridges. When designing the company’s new visual brand standards, TCA leveraged uniquely configured images of leaves and other natural elements to reinforce LaserCycle USA’s commitment to the environment. This imagery was applied consistently across all customer touch points, including delivery vehicles, reusable cartons for remanufactured cartridges and all digital and printed material. The website includes a running CO2 calculator demonstrating the number of pounds of CO2 saved over two decades of cartridge remanufacturing.
