Google Redesigns Its Sign-In Pages

Products + Papers April 3, 2017 Ilana Greenberg
GOOGLEHEAD

Google has redesigned, and is preparing to roll out, a new look for its web service sign in pages including, of course, Gmail. The change is largely visual rather than functional, i.e., users will still need to type in their email address or phone number and then their password.  So functionality will not change. Google started using the new look at the operating-system level and through the Google App on iOS several months ago. The main goal appears to be to bring consistency across mobile, desktops and tablets: new design is responsive, so its appearance will change based on screen size and orientation. And it is described as “having a cleaner, simpler look”  which is expected make the sign-in process quicker.
