SHILLINGTON

Aida Alvarez is a designer inspired by her love and fear of the internet. Having recently graduated from Shillington, she is pursuing opportunities that defiantly question convention as a brand and digital designer. She is curious about the cultural, physical, and communal impact of online experiences and spends a lot of time spiraling over digital preservation.

What makes you feel inspired?

Aside from the depths of the internet, I was happy to find how inspiring just simple conversations with strangers is for me. I tend to get past the small talk and those mini discoveries fuel the work.

What area or areas of design are you hoping to work in or specialize in?

I’m currently interested in digital and interaction design but am always excited to work branding.

What is one thing that design school has taught you that you did not expect?

How important a creative community is. It was because of my journey with Shillington and meeting other designers that I started to feel comfortable with my work.

Who is someone you look up to in your field? Either today or historically?

Eric Hu is always doing amazing things. Butt Studio, Harriet Davey. The list goes on forever

What are you reading, listening to, watching?

Listening to: Dr.Gabba, Girl Talk, SZA

Watching: The Rehearsal, Kotaro Lives Alone, Abbott Elementary
