Graphic Designer Finds Wedding Invitations A Dream Come True

Guest Blogpost by Lindsay Karpinsky

Gina Peterson designed her first wedding invitation six years ago, and she had no idea where it would take her.

Peterson, a marketing designer at the time, was looking for the perfect invitation while planning her own wedding. Most of what she found was too traditional to fit the couple’s modern style, so Peterson quit her search and decided to design it herself. After receiving an overwhelmingly positive response to her design, she began Ginger P. Designs on Etsy in 2013 as a fun way to make a little extra money.

Imagine Peterson’s surprise when the shop grew, and grew, and grew into a full-time business, which she eventually moved from her home to a storefront location in Janesville MN. As demand grew, relatives and friends stepped up helping fulfill orders, attend wedding shows and perform late-night duties like lining 200 invitation envelopes. Now Ginger P. Designs employs a full-time graphic designer to help with the ever-increasing demand for custom work.

How was Peterson able to provide such a variety of products and services in such a short period of time? Her print needs are fulfilled through a well-established print company called Carlson Craft.

“My relationship with Carlson Craft has been a blessing. It has brought so much more to my business offerings,” Gina commented. “I can now offer custom foil, letterpress, thermography, custom die-cut shapes and numerous paper options.”

Aside from being able to let her creativity run loose, Gina’s favorite aspect of the job is making customers’ dreams of the perfect invitation come true. “Everyone is always excited or at that happy place in their lives when they come in, and I love sharing those moments with them. The constant creativity and meeting new people truly captures my passion.”
