Custom Illustration Gives View To High Elevation Vineyards
In 2005, after a wine tasting adventure in Sicily, the founder of Rhys Vineyards fell in love with the Italian varietals of Mount Etna. Perplexed as to why grapes such as Carricante, Nerrello Mascalese, and Nebbiolo were not as common in his home of California, he and his team studied the terroir of Mt. Etna and discovered that it is similar to the climactic conditions found at high altitudes in California. Rhys Vineyards established vineyards dedicated to growing these Italian varietals in a remote region of Sonoma County on a mountain boasting an elevation of 2,000 feet – Centennial Mountain.
CF Napa developed a custom illustration with an old world feel encapsulated in a graphic “C” monogram — in the spirit of how Rhys Vineyards combined the Old World with the New World — providing a window view of the high elevation vineyards of Centennial Mountain. Owner & Creative Principal David Schuemann explains that “the modern twist on traditional illustration creates a clean, contemporary feel to this iconic label.” For nearly 50 years, CF Napa Brand Design has set the standard for alcohol beverage branding, and has emerged as a preeminent agency specializing in the alcohol beverage industry, creating some of the fastest growing and most successful brands in the world.
CF Napa also crafted a brochure, extending the design elements from the packaging. The smaller, short cover allows the viewer a sneak peek of the majesty of Centennial Mountain captured in a photo inside. The cover also features the custom illustration from the wine label.
In addition, the brochure takes the viewer through the Centennial Mountain story, inviting customers to immerse themselves in its journey, and an embossed gold foil logo adds a premium touch. Inside, views of the mountain, a topographic map, and insights into the winery’s viticulture, winemaking methods, and philosophy are showcased.
