WOODBURY UNIVERSITY
Dimitri Tasakos, is a 4th year graphic design student at Woodbury University working towards obtaining his BFA in 2023. He is a Washington State based illustrator and rug-designer, as well as a recipient of a GDUSA package design award in 2022 . What he loves about graphic design is how he can combine his own artistic voice with a set of intentions to create something tangible. “The end product is always more satisfying when you can hold it in your hands.” He would love to begin his career in entertainment design, package design, and/or motion as he finds these jobs lend themselves to his illustration and design style. Dimitri enjoys working with artists in other fields, and he believes collaborative efforts bring out the best in his work.
What makes you feel inspired?
I feel most inspired when surrounded by other creatives! I’ve been surrounded by musicians, artists, and designers ever since I began my own visual arts journey. These people push me to create for myself, as well as for my community.
What area/areas of design are you hoping to work in or specialize in?
I would love to work in entertainment design or packaging design! Any job that can utilize my skills in illustration and handcrafts.
What is one thing that design school has taught you that you didn’t expect?
Design school taught me that I am more capable than I give myself credit for. We’re often tasked to do it all as designers, and after 4 years I really feel like I can.
Who is someone you look up to in your field? Either today or historically.
Bryce Wymer is a freelance visual artist based out of Brooklyn, New York. I really appreciate his stylistic approach and the versatility of his work.
What are you reading, listening to, watching?
I’m listening to Mac Demarco’s new instrumental album and watching What We Do in the Shadows for the 5th time.
