Disney+ is giving fans a reason to tune in this Halloween with a first-of-its kind experience: the EDGEOFYØR Seat, a physical chair designed to keep viewers literally on the edge of their seats while watching Huluween content. Brought to life by Austin TX-based creative agency CALLEN, in collaboration with furniture innovator Fyrn, this piece is a complement to Huluween on Disney+.
Fryn, a design-and-build company that seeks to advance the tradition of American furniture making, crafted a satirical version of its award-winning Mariposa chair. With 80% of the product hacked away, the EDGEOFYØR Seat complements any Huluween scare-a-thon, creating a viewing experience a couch could never deliver.
In tandem with the introduction of the physical chair, Disney+ is launching a 30-second social film titled “Chainsaw.” Opening in a dark studio space with sounds of a buzzing chainsaw, wood chips fly in the air. A masked man steps back to view his work: the EDGEOFYØR Seat, a chair with over 80% of the seat severed and hacked away, he has left the only part of the chair viewers need: the edge.
“Huluween on Disney+ delivers the kind of scares that keep you on the edge of your seat – so we carved away the rest,” said Zack Jerome, VP, Brand and Marketing Strategy at Disney+. “The EDGEOFYØR Seat is a tongue-in-cheek reminder that during Huluween, there’s literally no way to sit back and relax.”
