November 2022 Newsletter
George Lois recently passed away at 91 (see below). He helped revolutionize consumer advertising and magazine design, and yet my sense is that few of our readers know the name or the achievements. That is sad because the modern history of advertising and graphic design is compelling, and most people succeeding today are standing on the shoulders of giants. GDUSA is about to commence our 60th year of publication and we intend to use at least some of our time, space and energy in 2023 to honor that history.

Annual Package Design Awards
Our Annual Package Design Awards Is Now Open
Our 60th anniversary GDUSA American Package Design Awards™ continues to be the fastest growing of our national competitions and the reason is simple but profound: Marketers and retailers are challenged as never before to convey their message and promote their brand. Package design ‒ along with point-of-purchase and retail graphics ‒ is increasingly the difference maker. This annual program celebrates attractive graphics, of course, but more importantly the power of effective design to advance the brand promise and to forge an emotional link with the buyer at the moment of truth.

Sponsored by Neenah
New this year: the Neenah Gold Award for the best use of paper in a packaging project. Selected by Neenah’s in-house creative team, the winner will be prominently featured on the Idea Shop and have the opportunity to collaborate with Neenah on a national promotion.

Most creative professionals would agree that better time management can lead to higher profits and overall team efficiencies.

Productivity equals profitability, but both are difficult to maintain if you don’t have a clear idea of where time ‒ any agency’s most valuable resource ‒ is going. Whether you are an in-house team with no billable hours, charge by the hour, by the project, or through a retainer, keeping track of time is fundamental to success.

That’s why the use of appropriate timesheet and project management software is so important. As a creative professional, you don’t have time to deal with generic timesheet software designed for any business that charges out time. But neither do you have time to manage individual clients, projects, tasks, billing, and employees across multiple solutions all by yourself.
