Ellie Cochran’s interests lie at the intersection of technology and design. Ever since learning to program at a young age, she has been fascinated by the power that computers bring to art. By the time she completed her Visual Arts major at Pittsburgh CAPA high school, Ellie was an enthusiastic developer and designer. Her design sensibilities are driven by a desire to make people’s days easier and better, and to democratize the power of computing. With a deep interest in creative uses of new or emergent technology and innovative mediums and techniques, Ellie is inspired by net art, outsider art, and anti-design. She incorporates transparency and awareness of the wider effects of technology into her work, and considers data privacy a human right. Ellie is completing a BFA in Graphic Design at the Pennsylvania College of Art & Design.
