Texas State University
Texas State University’s Communication Design Program is one of the largest public programs in the country and is one of the best in the Southwest United States. The program’s curriculum is oriented around the preparation of a superior portfolio with a focus on enabling students to become excellent critical thinkers, fearless makers, and effective communicators as they enter the professional field of communication design.
Many design programs are successful in teaching basic design principles and theory, but the Communication Design Program at Texas State University is renowned for teaching their graduates how to be creative and highly adaptable practitioners in the ever-changing field of design. We have strong ties with national businesses and organizations that offer job-shadowing, internships, mentoring, and meetups. Located between Austin and San Antonio, we’re rich with opportunities for our students to engage with area design professionals inside and outside of the classroom. Our graduates find placements in companies such as IBM, Vrbo, USAA, McGarrah Jessee, DDB, H-E-B Digital, Helm’s Workshop, Indeed, Disney, Google, Microsoft, Spotify, Verizon, frog design, and GSD&M.
