Hearst Digital Creative Director Leads Webinar on Agile Design Process

Theresa Mershon of Hearst Digital presents a free webinar, thanks to Monotype, on the need for agile design and publishing processes.

A free webinar organized by Monotype explores the need for publishers (print and digital) and designers (web and print) to be more agile in this new era. Entitled Inside Hearst’s New Agile Design Process the webinar explains how the digital team at Hearst is evolving to improve team productivity, creative quality, as well as the ability to support a more on-demand publishing cycle, all the while serving reader expectations and needs.

mershonHearst Digital’s Creative Director Theresa Mershon is the featured speak on this webinar. She explains  the process, skill and workflow changes that have allowed her team to go from launching one magazine every few months to publishing a new title in as little as 3 days. This includes facing key visual challenges, and highlighting the tools and systems that were no longer working for them and needed to be rethought and replaced.

Mershon’s insights in Inside Hearst’s New Agile Design Process are well-earned. She’s responsible for the visual and interaction design of some of publishing’s most well-known titles, including Cosmopolitan, ELLE, Esquire and Harper’s Bazaar. Currently she leads a team of designers building a flexible publishing platform that delivers a billion page views to over 100 million users each month. She’s an advocate for lean UX in digital publishing, and believes designer generalists are the way forward.
