RHODE ISLAND SCHOOL OF DESIGN (RISD)

Hello! I am currently a senior in Graphic Design. I was born and raised in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. I describe myself as a quiet social introvert, who can get down for a party, and always up to dance. In my work, I have been exploring the multiple facets and intersectionalities of my identity, as a Black Haitian Female Graphic Designer. I have been dissecting, questioning and trying to merge in these aspects of my life. Right now I am excited about my Degree Project in which I am examining the dynamics of diglossia that is inherent to the Haitian society, and the sociolinguistics context of Haiti where French and Haitian Creole co-exist. I want to amplify ways that Haitian Creole is already elevated, and really open a discussion about its place in our society.
