Lippincott Names Brendán Murphy Executive Global Creative Director

Lippincott names a new Global Creative Director. Brendán Murphy has over 30 years experience (most spent at Lippincott) in visual and verbal design. Clients have included Aer Lingus, BD, DuPont, NYC Pride, Liberty Mutual, Morgan Stanley, MSK, and Samsung.

A New Chapter In A Notable Career

Lippincott has announced the appointment of Brendán Murphy to the role of Executive Global Creative Director. With over 30 years of experience leading design programs for brands across industries and around the world, Murphy’s ascension to the role of Global Creative Director marks a new chapter in a notable career. A native of Dublin, Ireland, Murphy has led visual and verbal identity programs for brands such as Aer Lingus, BD, DuPont, NYC Pride, Liberty Mutual, Morgan Stanley, Memorial Sloan Kettering, Samsung, Toys “R” Us and more.

An immigrant himself, Murphy is a fervent champion for inclusion and diversity; along with leading Lippincott’s partnership with NYC Pride, he designed the globally adopted universal access symbol for the sight, hearing and physically impaired. He was featured in GDUSA in 2018 as a Socially Responsible Designer where, at that time, he observed: “At Lippincott, some of our most meaningful projects are the ones where we’ve been able to use the power of ideas, design, and language to solve the problems that matter while making people’s lives a little easier.” Outside of work, Murphy has a passion for writing and illustration; he’s the author and illustrator of Ready for School, Murphy?, a children’s book published by Disney.

“Brendán’s an incredible designer, storyteller, and mentor, partnering with our clients to create compelling, emotionally resonant brand programs,” said Rick Wise, CEO. “What it means to be a brand today is evolving, and I couldn’t imagine a better leader to take the reins of our design programs and help clients navigate our changing world.” Murphy’s appointment coincides with key shifts in the world of brand identity, argues the firm,  as the worlds of brand, culture, and marketing grow ever closer and the need for dynamic and truthful branding grows. Murphy’s remit will be to work across Lippincott’s global teams to create breakthrough brand programs and empower clients to execute them in a world of hyper-proliferation and immediacy.
