With the rise of digital technology, more and more people are consuming content online. But what, asked Stefan Bucher, if we could instead harnessed technology to create a book that was unique and engaging enough for people to put down their devices and pick up a book?
This is exactly what Bucher set out to do with LetterHeads, a creative book where the letters come to life as characters to create a playful, emotional alphabet. Utilizing 3D modeling software, the letters are molded and carved to convey quirky personality traits and essential emotions. The book showcases an innovative approach to letterform creation, combining decorative lettering with the crisp digital modeling of a Pixar movie, and it features a spot gloss varnish cover and painted page edges. Bucher is, of course, well known as a writer, designer and illustrator, and as the man behind the award-winning California design studio 344 Design and the popular dailymonster.com drawing project.
