Pepsi Rolls Out New Wave of Japanese Cola

J-Cola, a major new release from PepsiCo and Japanese partner Suntory, is rolling out exclusively for the Japan market. The release is part of a broader marketing initiative led by Suntory — and dubbed “Japan & Joy” — that seeks to revitalize the Japanese cola market with more localized products and packaging.

In that spirit, the bottles adopt a design reminiscent of The Great Wave off Kanagawa print by 18th-century Japanese artist Katsushika Hokusai, combined with brush strokes on the label proclaim a special Pepsi for Japan’s cola lovers. Three flavors are available as part of the new range, including a regular cola drink, a zero calorie version, and black current flavored Midnight, aimed at consumers who drink the beverage in the evening.
