People People Rebrands WESTAF To Creative West

This transformation marks a significant milestone for the 50-year old nonprofit, redefining its identity for the first time to better reflect the breadth of creativity and communities it supports. With a new name, website, updated messaging, and a modern visual identity, Creative West recommits to its role as a key support of artists, organizations, and state arts agencies across the Western US and Pacific jurisdictions.

Creative West (formerly Western States Arts Federation) is one of six place-based nonprofit regional arts organizations. In collaboration with staff and board members, People People uncovered the need for a clear, inclusive identity that reflects the myriad of communities it serves. Short and memorable, the new name Creative West better encompasses the belief that place matters to the creative process.

Connection, multitudes, and transformation were central themes for the icon – reflecting the complexity and diversity of the Western region. People People utilized the icon’s flowing lines in animations throughout the redesigned website to further expand upon the ideas of constant evolution and growth.

The new website’s user-friendly design ensures that artists, partners, and the public can easily access resources, find upcoming grant opportunities, and explore the organizations far-reaching impact. Built with flexibility in mind, it includes features like an interactive impact map, a database of recent grantees, and a timeline documenting the nonprofit’s history.

The line work extends into Creative West’s social media presence and environmental graphics – underscoring, framing, and bringing energy to messaging.
