Sockeye, a brand strategy and design firm based in Portland OR, has tapped Steve Cousins as Creative Director of Design, a new position. Cousins, who has run his own design studio, ReallyBigCool, for the past nine years has also held creative director and art director/design positions at companies such as lululemon and Cinco. “Steve is a gifted creator and leader who will strengthen our work and inspire our designers,” said Sockeye co-founder and CCO Peter Metz, to whom Cousins reports. “This is exciting for us — to push what’s possible in design with a fresh point of view.”
Cousins will work across all the agency’s accounts, which include adidas, PeaceHealth, Tillamook Ice Cream, Otto’s CBD Apple Cider, and YKK Group. “I see in Sockeye a reflection of myself and an exciting opportunity to work with a super talented design team to continue creating the kinds of experiences that matter most,” said Cousins. In his earlier days, Cousins’ side gigs included serving as front man for punk band No Hands Down and playing semi-pro lacrosse for the North Shore Indians. These days, he likes to relax by spending time in the mountains with his dog, Hondo, and a cold can of craft Pilsner.
Sockeye specializes in advertising and design; clients have included brands like adidas, Tillamook, Tommy Hilfiger, Moonstruck, Columbia and Sartori Cheese.
