FASHION INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY (FIT)
I’m probably not the typical FIT student. Growing up in small town Ohio, Graphic Design was never exactly listed on the career aptitude tests. I was involved in the local and regional theaters and right after my eighteenth birthday I picked up and moved to New York City, ready for my name in lights. It wasn’t long before discovering I didn’t like the Broadway world much. Rather, the city presented me with a mind-blowing expanse of possibility. I worked in restaurants and bars, then began producing small nightlife events, followed by larger ones. I started a blog, collaborated with photographers to shoot me in fashion stories and developed a strong love for photography. Before long, I began working for a fashion photography agency, and I grew with the agency to become it’s art director. Around that time, I realized I had a skill set. One that I wanted to hone and develop. I randomly passed by FIT during a fair one day and went inside. It was the best decision I’ve ever made.
