RUTGERS UNIVERSITY – CAMDEN
Ruben is a recent graduate in graphic design. Raised in a small town in Mexico, his interests include philosophy, art, woodworking and cooking. As a child, he dreamed of becoming a fine artist. He taught himself to paint, and studied architectural drawing. At age 18, he moved to the US where he had to overcome the challenges of a new culture and language in order to pursue a college career. Once in college, he discovered the communicative power of graphic design. As a designer, he relies on the rational investigation and dissection of question as a problem-solving system, in a Cartesian fashion, to create affective visual messages that appeal to the intellect and emotions. He finds inspiration in nature, art, philosophy, history and the urban environment. Ruben believes that it is important to develop a well-defined design philosophy and to apply it with purpose, passion and honesty.
