UNIVERSITY OF THE ARTS (UARTS)
I am a senior graphic design major at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia. I got into graphic design by accident; I thought it was the same thing as advertising (I was wrong, so, so wrong). Over the last four years, I have gained an appreciation for the importance of design in connecting and communicating with others. I have used the skills I have learned to create a passion project called The Bridge. The Bridge is a new kind of women’s magazine inspired by the intergenerational relationships between the women in my family. We “meet” twice a year to discuss things that women actually talk about: sex, menopause, telling your gyno you’ve been sleeping around, addiction, your new skincare routine. I partnered with Girls Inc. of Greater Philadelphia, giving 25% of all proceeds to benefit their incredible programming. Since receiving a small grant from UArts’ Corzo Center for the Creative Economy in 2017, I have published two issues of The Bridge and have already started hounding another batch of women to write, illustrate, and otherwise share their story for Issue No. 3.
