Originally from Knoxville TN, James Harrill is a self-described “Christian, Designer, Cancer-Survivor.” He lives in Atlanta with his wife Sarah Rose and their two mischievous cats. James has 4 years of experience as a commercial photographer. Through this lens, James identified his love for design and decided to pursue this path via graduate studies. In 2017 James was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer. After a surgery to remove the tumor along with 3 ribs, he underwent 6 rounds of inpatient chemotherapy and 30 radiation treatments. This treatment journey lasted 8 months and has forever impacted his creative process. James gained a unique perspective and aspiration to create purposeful designs that better the world. Cancer survivorship requires discipline, faith, grit, and most importantly courage. This is reflected in James’ character and thereby his designs. James’ unique perspective has given him an authenticity and voice that is impactful. After graduation he plans to embark on his next adventure working as a designer.
