MARYLAND INSTITUTE COLLEGE OF ART (MICA)
Janny Ji is currently an MFA candidate at the Maryland Institute College of Art. Originally from China, she came to the US in 2011 to pursue her dream to become an artist. She was trained as an illustrator and painter at the Rhode Island School of Design, where she earned a BFA degree. After working with traditional media, she discovered graphic design during her first job and decided to start on a new path. She enjoys learning through experimenting, failing, and iterating in the boundless world of graphic design. She explores typography, visual storytelling, and critical thinking through a range of media in her design practice. Janny’s work has been recognized by the ADC, TDC, Graphis, STA, Adobe, GDUSA, Applied Arts, 3×3 Illustration, and the Society of Illustrators.
