OTIS COLLEGE OF ART AND DESIGN

Graphic design has given me the power to communicate, broadly, effectively, and visually. Before pursuing a BFA in design school, I worked in museums, built puppets, painted murals, tried to learn saxophone, and drew comics, but it wasn’t until I discovered graphic design in my sophomore year at Otis that I truly found my voice. I love typography and design systems, and the way every element communicates something that builds toward the larger picture. My internships at art and cultural institutions in LA have strengthened my understanding and awareness of the importance of diversity and inclusion. Design must have a purpose, initiated by feeling and emotion and that a good message is one that communicates across all audiences and genres. My passion for design is also present outside of school. I am an active member of AIGA LA and VP of our student chapter. In 2011, I co-founded a boutique design studio “Dog Knit Sweater” with my partner Danny Miller (and June Bug, aka “Top Dog”). My dream is to one day run my studio full time.
