FASHION INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY (FIT)
My name is Emmily O’Connor, and I’m a 4th year Graphic Design BFA student at FIT! I’m passionate about typography and book layout design, which comes from my lifelong love of reading and writing. I also feel strongly about social and political issues, and try to approach design projects as opportunities to advocate for positive change. After graduating high school, I worked for an independent NYC Apple reseller in visual merchandising. Supervising installation of graphics and displays across their Chelsea retail space, I worked closely with the inhouse graphic design team. This introduced me to the field and sparked my interest in type and branding. Deciding I wanted to pursue a graphic design education, I applied to FIT and began their prerequisite Communication Design 1-year AAS program in the fall of 2017. Almost three years later, I am eagerly looking forward to graduating this coming May!
