M.AD SCHOOL OF IDEAS
Dana Kaplowitz is a creative copywriter based in New York City. She is moved by all facets of storytelling and is constantly chasing catharsis. Once a starving actress in Hollywood, she now considers herself a well-fed creative writer, all thanks to her most recent stunt at M.AD School of Ideas. Before graduation, she had the pleasure of interning at TBWA\Chiat\Day and Droga5, in addition to receiving Radio Mercury and Clio Shortlist awards.
When she isn’t throwing ideas against a wall, she’s most likely collecting human truths while watching Bravo TV, drinking peppermint tea, and embroidering. Her colorful background has taught her to appreciate the journey, and she hopes to inspire others to keep opening doors even when they get to their destination.
What makes you feel inspired?
I’m inspired by vulnerability and the beauty that comes with it.
What area or areas of design are you hoping to work in or specialize in?
I want to work at a creative agency where the strategy is smart and the people are kind.
What is one thing that design school has taught you that you did not expect?
That your ego IS going to get in the way at some point and the more you can accept it without it affecting your creative process, the better you’ll be.
Who is someone you look up to in your field? Either today or historically?
Hatem El Akad. He’s not just a super-talented writer, but also the loveliest human/mentor, and I’m forever grateful for his guidance.
What are you reading, listening to, watching?
Reading Book Lovers by Emily Henry and Fairy Tale by Stephen King, listening to the Normal Gossip podcast, and watching Fleishman Is In Trouble on Hulu.
