Princeton Architectural Press adds two new titles this month (June 2021) to their Moleskine Books Inspiration and Process in Design series. The publications look at the work of Louise Fili and Milton Glaser, respectively.
Award-winning graphic designer Fili takes readers on a personal tour through her most famous brands, books and packaging in Louise Fili: Inspiration and Process in Design, revealing how research and vintage typography give rise to her designs. Fili explains how her work – still done by hand – transforms from early sketches to final design. Her instantly recognizable style, elegant and timeless, takes shape on the page. Also included are Fili’s copyright pages, which are works of art in their own right.
Milton Glaser: Inspiration and Process in Design is a revealing peek inside Glaser’s never-before-published journals offering insight into his design process. Through notes, drawings, and sketches from his home in NYC and his travels throughout Italy, France, and Spain, Glaser inspires the reader to find meaning in even the smallest details: a cat, a stage set, a portrait, a building – all are significant. A brief introduction by Glaser and an interview conducted by Jeremy Elias, originally printed in the New York Times, are included.
