“Tooling Around” is an ongoing series of letters crafted out of tools by typographic illustratorĀ Joseph Alessio, publishing one glyph daily through the end of February.
Alessio says, “The idea sparked while looking in boxes and corners for inspiration one afternoon and turned into a project by that evening, bringing the contrasting shapes of the components together and arranging them to work in concert, forming legible letters.”
The series will cover the entire alphabet, bringing the letterforms that we use every day into three dimensions and bringing a fresh, if rusty, look to a world of custom lettering that is becoming increasingly homogenous.
You can view the entire series on theĀ TypeLimited Tumblr and Joseph’s Instagram.
