Pink Pussyhat Is SVA Masters First Annual Brand of the Year

The pink, cat-eared “pussyhat” that became the icon of the Women’s March in January will be announced as first ever “Brand of the Year” by SVA Masters in Branding Chair Debbie Millman, at Brandstand, an event of the SVA Alumni Network. Rather than mounting a traditional competition with entry forms, fees and rationales, The Masters in Branding program at the School of Visual Arts is taking sweeping look at commerce and culture to identify an Annual Brand of the Year. As noted above, the initial choice is the Pink Pussyhat, a brand not initiated for any financial benefit but “created by the people for the people.”
