Equator has appointed former chef Joe Wright to the role of Lead Food Stylist, further expanding its in-house photography and food styling capabilities. An experienced and hands-on food stylist, Wright began his career as a chef at the Jamie Oliver Restaurant Group, before moving into their production team, shooting for ad campaigns, print publications and television programs. Next, Wright joined THG Studios in Manchester as their style director, overseeing Tesco’s rebrand of its packaging and helping Asda concept and create imagery for its ‘extra special’ range. Wright also worked with sports brands like MyProtein, creating recipe tutorials for their website and social platforms, and working with some of the brand’s many ambassadors.
Having joined Equator three months ago, Wright is now working with the agency’s designers and art directors to deliver projects for some of the agency’s biggest food and beverage brands. In addition to food styling on set, he is supporting a roster of clients with conceptual work, generating creative photographic narratives, and researching recipes and food trends. His experience as a chef brings a fresh and valuable perspective to each shoot. On his appointment to the role, Wright comments: “My main goal is to help elevate the content that we create and push the business into new areas particularly video content, which will add another layer of value for current and potential clients.” Wright joins recently recruited Head of Photography Si Thompson in the agency’s Manchester studio.
