New York City Ballet has named Ricky Kim as Director, Creative Services. The new position reports to Senior Director of Marketing & Media Karen Girty. In this role, Kim works closely with the Marketing and Media Department on overall brand strategy, including the development and execution of all institutional and promotional communications. Prior to joining NYCB, Kim held senior art direction, creative services, and photography positions at such institutions as Y&R, Fossil, Ralph Lauren, Lipman, Ogilvy & Mather, Publicis Modem, Digitas and Leo Burnett. From 2010 to 2011 he also served as the associate creative director of Ladygunn Magazine, a music and fashion print publication and online magazine with headquarters in New York and Stockholm. In 2015 Kim founded Monrowe, a multimedia platform and intellectual biannual publication for fashion and film, where he will continue to serve as editor-in-chief. Kim is a BFA graduate from Northern Arizona University with a dual emphasis in graphic and interactive design, and also studied design and photography at the American Intercontinental University in London. At the Ballet, he oversees a Creative Services team responsible for creating such materials as brand advertising, brochures, signage, digital content, and other materials. On the appointment, Girty says: “It is an exciting development for NYCB to have its first completely in-house creative department to champion this 67 year-old, gold-standard brand.”
