Hornall Anderson is a pioneering Seattle-based graphic design firm dating back nearly four decades. We republish this message from the firm’s Chairman Jack Anderson and Managing Director Jeff Alpen announcing that it “is now Sid Lee.”
At the beginning of a new decade, we write with the exciting news that Hornall Anderson is now Sid Lee.
You might remember that in 2017 we joined kyu, a collective of companies we’ve admired for years, including IDEO, SYPartners, Sid Lee, and Digital Kitchen. We feel honored to be working alongside these changemakers. They share with us the belief that creativity has the power to move society and the economy forward.
As we’re sure you’re experiencing, the way we work continues to evolve at astonishing speed. This has changed the dynamics of our creative relationships. As we looked at the business landscape and where we believe the momentum is going, we made an intentional decision to join Sid Lee. This choice expands our relevancy. We’ll still do what we do best—brand strategy, visual identity, brand experience, built environments, and packaging. Those capabilities will now be enhanced by services that offer an end-to-end customer experience.
As part of this change, we will adopt the name of Sid Lee. Our team in the Seattle office joins a global group of multi-disciplinarians over 900 people strong. If you’re not familiar with Sid Lee, it’s a leading creative company for the modern age, working globally and collaboratively from offices in Montreal, New York, Los Angeles, Toronto, Paris, and now Seattle.
The ambition and culture of Sid Lee align with the soul of Hornall Anderson. Thirty-seven years ago we were a fearless startup with little respect for boundaries. We built a company by hiring passionate creatives who were a little off camber…photographers, architects, printmakers, writers, musicians, dancers, actors…people who live to create what matters. We always figured out a way to deliver kick-ass creative.
One thing that will not change is our commitment to you. The leadership and creative teams you trust and love to work with will remain the same.
Sure, this announcement is the end of one chapter, but we’ve always believed in a bold vision and the courage required to change. In becoming Sid Lee, we become stronger. That means removing boundaries between people and disciplines, and more ways to develop deeper relationships with our clients.
